Dammkarhütte is a privately run mountain hut at 1,667 metres and is located in the impressive Dammkar near Mittenwald. The slightly smaller mountain hut sleeps twelve people and is often used as a support point by climbers, who can find numerous climbing routes at different degrees of difficulty in Dammkar. The hut can be reached via a varied and not too demanding serpentine path. In addition to fresh beverages, hikers, mountaineers and climbers are also served Bavarian delicacies on the sunny terrace or in the parlour.
Both the road and the Ochsenboden-Steig lead to the "Bankerl" (bench), where the serpentine path begins, leading to the hut in about 45 minutes. Hikers can also descend from the Karwendel railway mountain station through Dammkar to the hut. From the neighbouring Hochlandhütte, a mountain path also leads up to the so-called "Bankerl".
