This interesting hike to the "Gletscherschliff" natural monument, at 1,020 meters near Mittenwald, is an exciting undertaking for the whole family. There are numerous paths to discover which lead through the roaring Leutasch "Ghost Gorge."
The hiking route to the "Gletscherschliff" alpine tavern begins at the Isar bridge on Innsbrucker Straße and leads along the Leutascher Ache river to the access point of the Leutasch "Ghost Gorge." Following the so-called "Goblin Trail," visitors will arrive at the spectacular panoramic bridge, which leads over the gorge at about 40 meters high. A pleasant forest trail on the opposite side of the gorge takes hikers on a short distance to the "Gletscherschliff" alpine tavern, at 1,020 meters. (temporarily closed) The popular excursion destination gets its name from the natural monument behind the tavern, which vividly showcases the tracks of the last ice age. The footpath takes you back to the entry point of the gorge and on to the center of town in Mittenwald.
