Start: Center of Krün - Destination: Weilheimer Hütte on the Krottenkopf
The mountain hike to the Weilheimer Hütte alpine hut will require a certain amount of fitness. But once you arrive at the top, on lovely summer days you can enjoy an alpine panorama from the Karwendel range to the Staffelsee lake near Murnau. You can wrap up this fantastic tour by stopping for refreshment at the Weilheimer Hütte alpine hut and recharging your batteries for the descent...
The starting point for this strenuous tour is the center of Krün, accessible by the bus stop "Ortsmitte Krün". From there you turn directly into the Krottenkopfstraße and
follow the signs for the Krüner Alm, through the fascinating Finzbachklamm gorge, to the left at the fork, on the forest road to the "Am Graben" junction. Here, take the center trail toward the Krüner Alm alpine hut. At the supplies cableway (only for the Krüner Alm), climb the ascent to the Krüner Alm alpine hut, with a fantastic panorama. Behind the hut, the route continues on a narrow climb through an alpine bowl to the Michelfeld plateau, from which the alpine hut on the Krottenkopf can already be seen. After crossing this somewhat rocky field, climb a steep rise, keeping to the left, and arrive at the Weilheimer Hütte alpine hut. Descent options via Esterbergalm and Kuhalm – Wallgauer Steig-Wildsee – Schwarzer Gragen – Wallgau - Krün.
