Start: Wallgau - Bichl parking lot on the panorama trail - Destination: Weilheimer Hütte and descent to Wallgau
This very demanding hike requires a certain level of fitness, but enchants with a fantastic view and a beautiful mountain hut to stop off and rest.
Day 1 - Weilheimer Hütte (1,946 meters)
The starting point of the mountain tour is the "Bichl" bus stop in Wallgau. From there, follow the footpath next to the main road to the northern end of the village and turn left onto the forest road towards Simetsberg. Walk to the fork in the road at Lexengraben and continue straight ahead on the mountain path that leads to the Wildsee lake. Walk along the lake on the right via the Wallgauer Steig to the Rechtler Hütte (Kuhalm - not open). Pass the hut and keep slightly left in the direction of Weilheimer Hütte. On the right, you have the option of taking a 20-minute detour to the Hohe Kisten, which rewards you with a wonderful panoramic view. Continue along the path to the Weilheimer Hütte, where you can end the first day with an overnight stay.
Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast at the hut, you can descend. Before heading back, you can take a detour to the upper Risskopf (20 minutes). The descent is via the partly sloping path towards Krüner Alm via Michelfeld, Angerlboden and Lochtal past Klaffen. A narrow path leads to the Krüner Alm (partly farmed). From here, a path descends in serpentines to a fork where you keep left towards Wallgauer Alm and continue on a narrow path across the alpine pasture to the hut. Return to the valley along the forest road for a while, then turn left and follow the path to Wallgau.
