Holidays in Mittenwald

Holidays in the Bavarian Alps are particularly successful in Mittenwald. The parish church of St. Peter and Paul with its baroque steeple rises up in the middle of the village. During Advent, it is surrounded by the Christmas market. Next door, the pedestrian zone and house facades decorated with Lüftl paintings spread a lot of flair. The historic centre has been redesigned with a giant violin and raft, small streams and squares. The violin-making and climatic health resort in Upper Bavaria is bursting with history. South of it, where the Isar rises, Bavaria meets Tirol. Centuries ago, Mittenwald became a trading gateway to the south. The people of Mittenwald revive this heyday every five years as the "Bozner Market". Cultural connoisseurs also appreciate the violin-making museum , the genuine folk music and the varied music summer. Mittenwald's surroundings are also paradisiacal for holidays in Bavaria: scenic diversity delights cyclists, hikers and families: the palette ranges from crocus meadows to rocky peaks. For the more leisurely, take the Kranzberg chairlift, or head for higher mountains via the Karwendelbahn.
