The Mittenwald Farmers' Theater is celebrating its 155th anniversary with locals, friends, and guests. To celebrate, there will be a special performance of "The Ghost Brew":
Innkeeper and brewery owner Xaver Bogenrieder was no stranger to sadness throughout his life. When he suddenly dies, he leaves his young widow, Wally, with a mountain of debt.
Moreover, after the funeral, she is unexpectedly confronted by the dancer Lola,
who claims to the assembled mourners that the Unterbräu still has a score to settle with her.
At the wake, the entire village community pledges their full support to Wally. High school teacher Eichinger and pharmacy assistant Körner even begin courting her.
But when it becomes known that the Unterbräu widow is on the verge of bankruptcy due to her late husband's dissolute lifestyle, most of the townspeople reveal their true colors.
Now, master brewer Sebastian Schöllerer, a longtime silent admirer of the widow, sees his moment has come. To save the brewery and show the naive widow who truly loves her and who is only after her money, he and the shepherd Sixtus hatch a spooky plan.
Suddenly, the small community has no peace, because the restless ghost of the deceased Unterbräu is on the loose...
